Over eight years on from the introduction of the first 'Limited Edition' Silver D.R. Macleod liveried Volvo FH16 Globetrotter, the Silver Edition has made a return to the D.R. Macleod fleet in 2008 (Shown above) and appears to have caused just as much of a stir amongst enthusiasts as its predecessor (Shown below). One of only eighty constructed for the European market, this limited edition run was created to commemorate Volvo's 80th Aniversary, this particular tractor unit was made available to D.R. Macleod Ltd as a result of their long standing relationship with Volvo.

The Euro 5 compliant FH Anniversary truck, which was supplied by Volvo Truck and Bus Scotland comes equipped with Volvo’s class-leading I-Shift automated gearbox to transfer the power of the unit's 520hp D13 engine. It also has some highly advanced features. It is equipped with Volvo’s collision warning system, which when switched on, if the truck gets too close to the vehicle in front, the brakes are applied. Also, if the driver pulls out and crosses the ‘white line’ without indicating, an audible noise is heard. If the driver continues, the brakes come on. These active safety features are designed to reduce the incidences of drivers falling asleep.

This valuable addition to the fleet should help keep D.R. Macleod Ltd at the forefront of truck technology developments.
